Hide Zombie Breath with Listerine Oral Care Strips, Cool Mint, 24 strips

Written: Apr 07 '13 (Updated Apr 07 '13)
Pros:Handy, can take anywhere, kills grems and will hide Zombie Breath.
Cons:Pricey for breath strips. Choking hazard for small children.
The Bottom Line: For a quick fix of breath air...I mean fresh air..., these air breatheners...er..*sigh*. You know what I mean. Buy 'em. Now. They work!

These were are popular regimen for me back in California. Pop one of these strips in my mouth while I was out somewhere when I know I had stinky breath and all was fine. For awhile at least!

Compact little containers
My wife introduced me to these as I'd never seen them before. Maybe she was trying to tell me something? These little plastic cases are no bigger than a stick of gum so they fit in your pocket...any pocket, no matter how tight, so you can take them anywhere. My wife keeps hers in her purse.

Who's Rex? WHO CARES!
These can be obtained just about anywhere except your local fish market.  There you will not need these breath freshening strips to kiss fish, they are already dead and don't really care. (You Aussies will get that one...Rex Hunt, anyone?!) For everyone else: Rex Hunt,  TV fishing show host, catches fish, kisses them...throws them back. Yes, weird but strangely entertaining TV show. But that's enough of that.

Back to the subject...prices
Oh yes, Breath Strips. We bought the 12x pack (288 strips) from Amazon.com. Currently they are around $18 there. That works out to about 15-16 cents per strip (I think). These large pack sizes may be available in bulk stores like Costco or Sam's Club, I don't know about retail stores. Smaller quantities are available in all retail stores and pharmacies.

Like minty communion wafers!
Each box contains 24 strips, which are paper thin and a little bigger than a thumbnail and are easy to remove, as they become slightly tacky when touched by your fingers. Pop one in your mouth and let it dissolve on your tongue, it only takes seconds. The Cool Mint flavor is just the same as Cool Mint Listerine Mouthwash (Duh), obviously and if you've ever used it you will know it has a slight burn to it, and so do these. But a great taste!

Kills germs, but not that pesky 1%
It is sugar and calorie free  which is a plus. It is also said that it kills up to 99% of germs, I very much doubt that. Some, yes but 99%? Does that mean the remaining 1% are so rich that their homes are much nicer and placed further back so they don't get washed away in that turbulent Menthol hurricane in your mouth? These are just claims from 'clinical studies', it's not my place to guess how effective they are at germ killing. I have read they kill some germs but also kill some of the good germs we need as well.

Breath freshener, no more, no less
Thats' not what they were made for, anyway. They're a nice little freshener for your breath between brushing, flossing and mouthwashing and are in no way a substitute for it. And I believe they do that effectively. After popping one my tongue will burn a little until dissolved, and my breath will stay fresh for awhile...not as long as I would like, but everyone's mouth is different. One will keep mine fresh for maybe 10-15 minutes, but then I don't have the healthiest of teeth/gums either!

Zombie Breath Cure
Personally although they're a quick fix for my occasional Walking Dead Zombie Breath, they tend to leave my mouth and tongue coated with an antiseptic taste that makes it feel kind of nasty, like it's still on there. It's not a sensation I like at all. I seem to be alone with this opinion as everyone else I know who uses them loves them with no complaints. Although I do like the Cool Mint taste, I just don't like the feeling in my mouth afterwards. If I had to describe it, "Bleech!" comes to mind! As such, I don't use them as often as I did back in San Diego.

There are 5 different flavors of these strips: Cool Mint, Cinnamon (yuck), Arctic Berry, Fresh Burst and Fresh Citrus. I have only tried Cool Mint.

Ingredients of these strips: Pullulan, Menthol, Sucralose, Potassium Acesulflame, Copper Gluconate, Polysorbate 80, Chondrus Cripus (carrageenan), Glyceryl Oleate, Thymol, Eucalyptol, Menthyl Salicylate, Caratonia Siliqua Gum, Propylene Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Aroma/Flavor, Green 3.
Yes...seems to be a good list there of all natural chemically manufactured ingredients! Remember this all gets swallowed by you once it's dissolved.

Choking Hazard
As the packs and strips are small, please keep them away from your toddlers and babies. They are a choking hazard and the container is marked accordingly. Store them in a cool dry place so the strips don't stick together, so don't leave them in your car!

Listerine Oral Care Strips, Cool Mint, 24 strips
I do recommend these for a quick mouth-freshening  burst, if for no other reason than to hide the fact from your partner that you're actually a zombie...but then, that would be the least of their worries!

Thank you for reading this mindless tripe. I hope it was at least informative!
