Litter Locker 2 Refills Review
Written: Apr 26, 2012 (Updated Apr 26, 2012)
Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:great odor barrier
Cons:can be costly if you have a lot of cats.
The Bottom Line: Litter Locker 2 refills are easy to use and replace.
Awhile back I bought a Litter Locker 2 which is a Litter disposal system. Click here to read more about the Litter Locker 2 in my review of the system. After a few weeks of using it I decided to order replacement cartridges so that when I ran out I would not have to stop using the system.
Description
The Litter Locker 2 refill is a continuous sheet of bags that you tie off to the desired length rather than using individual bags. The sheet of bag is approximately 16ft and lasts for one normal cat up to 2 months. One nice thing about the refills is that when you are getting close to the end of a roll there is a black stripe to let you know that its time to order or buy more refills. The cartridges are made of plastic and when they are empty you can put it in the recycle bin if your community offers recycling.
How to use the refills in the Litter Locker 2
You can read more in depth information about using the litter locker 2 by clicking the link above, but basically to change the refill, simply open the top part of the litter locker to reveal the used spool. Remove it and place it in the recycle bin. Pull some bag out of the refill and tie it off the same way you did the original and you are set to go.
Are there other alternatives to using the refills?
I have not used anything other than the litter locker 2 refills, but I have heard that the the Diaper Genie refills are the same thing and sometimes are easier to find in stores. I have also read that there are companies that sell rolls of the bag material and people will reload their existing cartridge with more from this roll. This will save you a lot of money but frankly is more work than I am interested in doing.
Cost and Value
I have seen the refills mostly online from prices starting around $4.50 plus shipping up to $7.50 or even more. I ordered mine from Amazon in bulk and got free shipping so I ended up paying about $5 each. I bought a dozen. For us I think one refill will last about 6 weeks so the cost was not really a big issue for me. Considering how well the bags control odor I will keep using the litter locker.
Thanks for reading my review
