High Tea?I think we'll pass...

Written: Jan 11, 2002
Rated a Somewhat Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:High tea is a unique experience for Americans
Cons:Husband became deathly ill after eating there.
The Bottom Line: I'm sure food poisoning isn't standard but do you want to take a chance?

I can only speak about high tea at the Savoy. I made reservations at the highly touted Savoy before we started the vacation, we anticipated it throughout the trip. I can say that the tea itself was mildly pleasant, the food was average but pretty. The staff was cool but not rude. It turned out to be VERY expensive, much more than I anticipated. Later that night, our last night in London, my husband became violently ill and threw up repeatedly. I was very worried about him and had to go wandering out at 6am the next morning to try and find him some medicine. He is sure that the salmon mousse from the Savoy was the cause. He hasn't had salmon in any form since!
