4-Star Room, 2-Star Service

Pros:Great Price, Luxurious Room
Cons:Poor Housekeeping, Apathetic Front Desk
The Bottom Line: If you can find the price I received, take it without hesitation and enjoy a nice room. Service wasn't great, but everyone has a bad day now and then.
My wife and I checked into the Westin LAX at about 11:30PM for a brief overnight stay. Pickup at the airport was prompt, check-in was routine, though the front desk clerk seemed rather bored, and didn't give me any details about the Fitness Center, Breakfast, or Check-out. The room was incredible. Feather bed, immense desk, extremely comfortable chair, great view. We were thinking wonderful thoughts about The Westin LAX, until we decided to take showers and wash off the travel grime. No Soap. My first solution was to ask a maid down the hall for a bar. She assured me that she would call housekeeping and they would bring us some. Still no soap 15 minutes later. I called the front desk, and they also assured me they would be bringing some up right away. I went down the street to Subway for a sandwich, and returned. Of course, the soap was not there. Fortunately, I used a bar of soap I had squirreled away in my luggage. I was annoyed by the hotel's inability to respond to my fairly simple request, but I was too tired to do anything about it. Our plane left early, so we missed breakfast. The best part of our stay was the 46 dollars we paid for a room on Priceline. Obviously, the Westin puts steep discounts on some of its rates, and that made my experience all the more enjoyable. But pack your own soap.
