| travel2010's Full Review: Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel |
I've stayed at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal many times. It is conveniently located near a major highway and in downtown near the subway station, the Underground City, St. Catherine Street, boutiques, restaurants, and museums.
The hotel has 825 rooms and 37 stories. The hotel has underground parking available. There is a choice between valet and self parking. Both have a fee that you will pay the parking attendants as you check out. It is not included on your hotel bill. I believe that self parking was around $15 Canadian a day but offered in and out service.
At some hotels, you pull up out front on the street and then go to check-in. At this hotel, it is on a busy street so cars cannot park in front. So you just go around the corner and turn into the hotel. It is covered and taxicabs also wait here. You can either drop your luggage off at the door or drive a little further and drive down to the parking area. The parking area goes down many stories. So just remember what number you parked your car on. It is well lit and the level is not that big so you can easily walk to the elevators. The elevator stops for 2 levels at a time. So 4/5 is one stop.
The hotel has 6 elevators which go to the rooms. Then there are two elevators that take you to the parking level or the spa level. There is a staircase and escalator that goes up to the third level as well as a staircase that goes down to the spa level.
The hotel lobby is very elegant. It is tastefully decorated and has chandeliers, large fresh flower bouquets which are changed daily. There are couches and chairs available to sit throughout the lobby. The lobby has a coffee cart in it and sells some pastries. A bar is to the side of the lobby. A gift shop is in the basement along with a salon, spa, and an ATM.
There is a desk at check-in for the Gold Level Starwood Preferred Guests. It is a very nice touch and adds to the level of service that you can expect at this hotel. There is a counter for other guests. Currency can also be exchanged at the desk for a fee.
A multilingual concierge is in lobby and can provide recommendation for restaurants and sites to see while in Montreal.
There are also many security guards in the hotel that provide for your safety.
The hotel has a large conference center of 46,000 sq ft., with meeting rooms. There is also a large indoor pool on the 6th floor. A fitness center is also available but for a fee.
I stayed in a Club Room at the hotel most of my stays. I like the extra amenities that come with the Club Room from getting my room cleaned twice a day, to the turn down service, to the free breakfast, to the bathrobe. The Club Rooms have an ergonomic chair, and work desk which includes a printer/fax/copier.
All rooms at the hotel have a mini bar, free bottled water, a free daily newspaper, a coffee maker, an iron and ironing board, a hairdryer, and a large safe. Cable tv is available and the stations are in French and English. HBO is available along with in-room movies and video games. There is voicemail available to all guests. An internet connection is also available in the room. Express checkout is available through the television.
The most important element of a Sheraton room is the Sweet Sleeper bed. This bed will ensure that you get a wonderful night of sleep. The rooms are tastefully decorated down to the last touch of artwork just to give the room the extra touch. Everything in the room goes together and was specifically picked to go in the room.
The bathroom has all the amenities of the Sheraton hotel down to a shoe horn, a shoe shining kit, a shower cap, and a sewing kit. The shampoos, conditioners, soaps, body gels and lotions are replaced daily. The towels are big and fluffy.
I have never had a problem with noise while in my room. I've never heard anything outside of my room. So the rooms are well designed.
Dogs are allowed in the hotel, although I am not sure if there is an extra fee involved or if the animals are just allowed on certain floors.
Most of the rooms in the hotel are non-smoking and will likely all be non-smoking in a few years.
The free breakfast to Club rooms is in the lounge on the 37th floor. There is a stunning view from this level of the hotel and it is all windows so you can see so much. The breakfast menu is all you can eat off of a buffet they have set up. One part of the breakfast area is a variety of breads and pastries. There are several toasters in this area. Another section has a variety of cereals to choose from. Fresh fruit, and a large bowl of cut up melon was also available. Then there is the choice of juices, coffee, and teas available.
Room Service is available as well as delivery from local restaurants. At this full service hotel, they will get you whatever you want. The service has always gone above my expectations.
The hotel is a little pricey at times. I've paid up to $250 Canadian for a Club Room and then found a deal for $89 Canadian. The prices seem to fluctuate and then there are deals from AAA/CAA, special promotions, and corporate rates.
I like that I can book a room and if I get a better rate at a later date, the hotel will give me the better deal.
