Pros: All suite hotel, full service pool bar, proximity to downtown shops and restaurants.
Cons: Pool needs more frequent cleaning, rooms could use a bit of an update.
The Bottom Line: Next time you are in Palm Springs for a fun weekend, book a room here, get a mountain view suite and relax by the pool. You won't regret it!

| maguilar's Full Review: Hyatt Regency Suites Palm Springs |
I wanted to note first off that I've written this review from a 'fun weekend getaway' standpoint--as a getaway for myself and my better half when we need some R&R.
I've stayed at the Palm Springs Hyatt Suites about 3 times over the last 4 years. It's my favorite place for that romantic weekend getaway for a few reasons:
(1) the pricing is stomachable if you can get an online deal, go in the downseason (fall or spring)--or call to try to get a deal through the hotel;
(2) the pool and amazing pool bar are not to be missed;
(3) and the hotel has excellent proximity to the downtown Palm Springs area because it's smack dab in the middle of the street!
One year we stayed at the Wyndam in PS, a little off the beaten downtown path, and the PS Hyatt was all the more attractive after that visit because of these same reasons. The Wyndam was very nice, but the rooms were small and it was far from downtown requiring a 25 min walk or a car drive.
The Hyatt PS is an all suite hotel, so each suite feels like home. The beds are absolutely huge and very comfortable. The sheets are very soft and with the inviting french balcony doors stretching out in front of the bed, it makes it hard to even want to leave the room, especially when room service and breakfast in bed is just a phone call away. The decor is starting to get a little dated, but it's still got a top-notch feel to it.
The staff has always been more than accommodating, even when I booked with a special corporate rate one year which was about 1/4 of their typical rate ($89/night), they still bent over backwards to be sure that we got a room that satisfied us, and that we were taken care of. The last year they gave us a room we did not like, I requested a mountain view room which is normally a more expensive rate, and they switched us with no problem.
We flew twice and drove once. The hotel has an airport shuttle, just call and let them know when you are coming and it will come and get you. Easy! They return you in time for your flight. When we drove, the valet was quick and courteous. We just drove up, gave the keys and our car was gone until 3 days later when we left. It was very efficient.
Request a mountain view room, the beautiful mountains look as though they are literally right outside your balcony window. Leave your balcony door open at night to hear the crickets chirping and enjoy the cooler night air. However be advised, sometimes a cricket or two will find its way into your room and then there will be hell to pay trying to find it.
I have visited Palm Springs in the fall (september) and the blazing hot summer (may/june), and have to say that fall is definitely my favorite time. As the weather cools elsewhere, Palm Springs stays warm longer, so you can visit in September or October and enjoy 90 degree weather during the day as opposed to the 110+ days that they see during the middle of the summer. The nights in the fall are more comfortable as well, more around the warm 70's than hot and muggy 80's. Palm Springs for us is a relaxing atmosphere..the heat makes it impossible to be very active. We wake up late, hang out by the pool for the day, nap in the evening and go out on the town at night!
This hotel is perfect for rest and relaxation. Just be sure not to go on a weekend where there may be noisy kids or smack dab in the middle of summer, because this is definitely a family oriented hotel during that timeframe. In the fall months, it is less crowded and the kids are back in school, so if you are looking for some quiet time, the fall is the best time to go. The mountain view rooms also overlook the pool, so if you don't like noise and the pool is very busy; forgo the mountain view for the city view (though I'd still rather take the mountain view because the city view opens up onto the street so you still get street noise).
Relax by the pool and order up drink after drink as you soak up the sun. There are plenty of umbrellas for those who want to keep their skin fair, and the waitstaff by the pool is very quick and attentive. Be warned..your pool bar bill will astound you at the end of a weekend visit!! It's much too easy to lounge around and order with a flick of your hand. A negative to mention is that I don't know how often the pool is cleaned, and after a busy summer..once in the fall the pool water was much less than clean..and very heavily laden with chlorine. This only happened once in the 3 times we have visited, so maybe it was a fluke, but dirty pool water is not inviting.
At night it's easy to just walk out of the hotel and mosey around the downtown area. Palm Springs has a small downtown area, perfect for discovering during a long weekend visit. There are many restaurants, shops, ice cream stores, karaoke bars, there's even a club for those who are dance inclined. One of the best things about this hotel is that it is right downtown, meaning no car is necessary to get around, and trust me..you wouldn't want to leave the lovely hotel and pool to drive around hot Palm Springs during the day anyway!!
