We had a terrific vacation in San Diego at the Paradise Point resort.
Perfectly located on San Diego's Mission Bay, the resort has several pools as well as a beach. We spent a week here and enjoyed several days swimming, at a different pool each day.
The resort is located ten minutes from Sea World. This animal theme park offers rides and shows galore. Great for kids of any age.
The resort itself is not the most luxurious. The bungalow style rooms are spacious, but modestly appointed. This fits with the beach atmosphere though. All the buildings are one story, with many of them facing small ponds or lagoons. You definitely want to request a room with a bay or lagoon view, otherwise your sliding door patio faces the parking lot (yuck).
The food options on the property are somewhat limited. There is a decent bar/grill on the waterfront, great for dining with little kids. There is also a higher end restaurant next door that has a more adult atmosphere.
Our best night was July 4th. The hotel put on an amazing fireworks show right over the bay. We all just walked over to the beach and laid in the sand, watching the fireworks right above us. The kids were in awe! There was also a paid portion of the show with Bar-b-que and bands, but we just chose the free beach option.
