Great North Beach Hideaway

Pros:Cool Bohemian interior, in the center of North Beach
Cons:No lobby or restaurant, but plenty of restaurants within 5 minutes from the hotel
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a cool hotel in a central location and you want to experience a lively San Francisco neighborhood with great restaurants the Boheme is your place.
The Hotel Boheme is a hip little hotel with only 16 rooms in the middle of San Francisco's North Beach. Countless restaurants, bars and bakeries are within walking distance. The fact that the hotel does not have its own restaurant is therefore not a problem, neither is the lack of a lobby. As a result the place feels like a sexy secret hideaway, just enough people seem to know about. You just sneak past the black & white photographs of the 50s Beatnik scene by Jerry Stoll up to your Bohemian, cozy room with tomato red walls, pea soup green ceilings and hop on the black wrought iron bed with a black & white check bedspread. Read a book by Allen Ginsberg or Jack Kerouac and you are taken back to another time in this great San Francisco neighborhood. What makes the place great is the cool design by the local designer Candra Scott and the personal, attentive service which makes up for what the hotel lacks in size and amenities.
