Now Known as Le Meridien San Francisco

Written: Aug 11 '06 (Updated Aug 14 '06)
Pros:Comfortable nights sleep, good setup in most rooms, location is ok, views decent from highrise.
Cons:Valet parking $50(w/tax)per night, Expensive for what you get. Cleanliness in question.
The Bottom Line: Overpriced! Decent hotel for business in the Embarcadero area, but kinda far from fisherman's wharf, piers, etc for tourists. Parking too expensive, should be cheaper for hotel guests.

MY OVERALL IMPRESSION of this hotel: parking too expensive as explained below, hotel was in transition from one owner to the new one (From Park Hyatt-San Fran to Le Meridien - Starwood Hotels), room seemed clean but there was hair in the shower when we first checked in....ewww, housekeeping quick to remedy, comfortable bed(king size), clean linens, change of linens 2 times per day offered, room is small but had an adequate amt of room for 2 guests with small seating area, desk with cordless phone convenient. It took forever to check in when we first got there and we were the only ones checking in at the time, there were two customer service reps at the counter at the time and the one who was helping us was a temp from another hotel, she was clearly having difficulty checking us in and kept asking the other agent questions, who would not just take a minute to help her, it took at least 30min to check in. Our door was knocked on several times even when the "do not disturb" sign was in place on the outside of the door. I will choose a different hotel next time I travel to San Francisco

LOCATION:

This hotel is located in the Embarcadero district of San Francisco

PRICE:

*For a Room with a King Bed with Bay(it is nearly impossible to see from most rooms)/City view, small seating area, desk, decent size bathroom. Overall comfortable and a lot of essentials provided.*

$150/Night(Booked Through A Discount Provider Online)

$229-639/Night if booked through starwood hotels official site(this price includes 20% discount if you book online instead of calling them)

A Plus - Free newspaper on weekdays(USA Today)

PARKING:

Valet Only $43/Night ($50/With Tax) Unlimited in's and outs.

We tried to find other parking in the area because we thought this price was ridiculous and found a couple of garages that were far more reasonable but since it is in the more business embarcadero area all garages close at the end of the night, no overnight parking.

INTERNET ACCESS:

The Le Meridien offers Wired and Wireless Internet access in each room at a cost per 24hr period, not complimentary. We were able to catch a wireless signal from somewhere nearby and never ended up purchasing the internet access.

AMENITIES:

Business Center
Fitness Center
Concierge Services
Currency Exchange
Laundry Service
Safe Deposit Boxes onsite
Underground parking(valet only)

OVERALL IMPRESSION:

Nice hotel, parking outrageous, still reworking itself as a new hotel from Park Hyatt to Le Meridien in may 2006. When we visit San Francisco again we will definately not be returning to this hotel as the park for 3 nights cost as much as 1 nights hotel stay! It was a "nice" hotel but seems to me like they are still working some of the kinks out in the transition from one owner to the next as far as quality control etc.
