I was very excited to be staying at the Ritz last weekend but unfortunately I have to say I was disappointed. It's not really a convenient location on top of Nob Hill but I knew that ahead of time and thought the Ritz would be worth it. I was wrong. Our room cost $395 per night (their lowest) and for that I certainly expect a hot shower in the morning! When checking out my husband mentioned the shower problem and the guy behind us (on another floor) said he had the same thing. I expect better of the Ritz. The room was very large, which was nice, but frankly the furnishings were rather tired looking and needed an update. The lobby was quite elegant and beautiful but once you got off the elevator the fact that it was time for a remodel was evident even in the hallways.

Another issue for me was room service. I was surprised to have to wait 45 min. for a meal ordered at 10am. Seems they should be past the morning rush by then. The second morning was even more ridiculous as I had to wait an hour for a simple bagel and coffee!

But I do want to commend their staff: every person I dealt with was extremely polite and pleasant to deal with. The entire Ritz chain has always been known for their service and certainly I found that in San Francisco. But frankly, that wasn't enough to make up for other issues and I will be staying somewhere else on our next visit to San Francisco.
