| Nuge's Full Review: Ritz Carlton R-C Naples |
Thank you bevk, for recommending the Ritz-Carlton, located at 280 Vanderbilt Beach Road, Naples, Florida. I was not disappointed with my recent stay at this hotel.
This was my first visit to a Ritz-Carlton, and it is definitely a notch above any hotel I have ever stayed at. The best feature is, of course, its proximity to the beach. The hotel is situated right on the Gulf of Mexico. The beaches are white and sandy, and laced with beautiful sea shells and sand dollars. In early October, the water temperature was in the low 80's. Sitting on the beach, you have a marvelous view of the Gulf, and it is not unusual to spot dolphins swimming less than 50 yards from shore. The hotel also sports a beautiful outdoor pool and whirlpool.
Outdoor amenities abound. The beach staff greets you when you set foot on the beach, and they are happy to set up a beach chair and towels for hotel guests, at no charge. Beach umbrellas can be rented. Wait staff patrol the beach, taking food and drink orders. Water coolers are situated at the beach entrance. Beachside massages are available. One amenity came to my attention in a humorous way. I was having a heated, but good natured, exchange with another guest, when all of a sudden I was interrupted by a voice that said, "Cold towel?" It was as if the Ritz employee sensed that I needed to cool down. He had a cooler full of frozen towels, which he offered with a pair of tongs.
The hotel itself is a beautiful structure. Every room has a view of the Gulf, the higher the room, the better the view. The staff is very attentive. If you go, request an upgraded room. I was able to get a better view by doing so. Each room has a balcony with chairs and a small table. The rooms have three telephones, with two phone lines and easy internet access. The standard room is quite roomy, the furnishings and carpets are clean and in excellent repair. There is a scale in the bathroom, and all of the bathroom amenities that you would expect. Housekeeping services are twice daily, although the second service is too early, in my opinion. Instead of arriving at 5:00p.m., while people are getting ready to go out, it would make sense to have it at 7:00p.m., after people have already left.
The hotel has several excellent dining areas, all at premium prices. There are five stores located in the building, ranging from souvenirs to fine jewelry. There is an in house beauty salon with a wide variety of services. The fitness center is an excellent facility. One room has weight machines with easy instructions, and radio music playing. Another room is full of treadmills and a television. There are saunas and steam rooms in this area as well. There is also a massage area, and dressing rooms are equipped with showers, and all necessary toiletries including razors and combs. The hotel also provides supervised children's activities. While I was there, a new spa facility was under construction, which will probably add even more luxurious resources.
Upon first glance of the hotel's brochure, it seemed that there was a golf course on site. Upon arrival, it is clear that there is a golf club which hotel guests are allowed to use, but it is not adjacent to the property. It is the Tiburon Golf Club, which was apparently designed by Greg Norman. Fees range from $75 to $175, depending on the time of day and the time of year.
The Ritz-Carlton in Naples is a resort in every sense of the word. The location is ideal, and the facility is first class. It is an excellent location for a relaxing vacation.
