Pros:location, great pool, amazing suites, glass elevators
Cons:REALLY big, could be very crowded if full
The Bottom Line: Stay here (or better yet the JW Grand Lakes) if you are going to WDW and collect Marriott points.
We've stayed at this property many times over the past 10 years or so. Several of the times we've stayed at the condos, notably Sabal Palms--which are a bit dated but do have a washer/dryer and a full kitchen.
The World Center has a great location, it is literally at one of the entrances to WDW without actually being on Disney property. This hotel also has a great pool--it is HUGE, like 3 acres, with slides, water falls, etc. Our kids love this pool.
One thing that surprised me is that our conceirge told me that 70%+ of the hotel is business travelers, I would have thought that given the nearness to the Mouse there would be more families, etc.
The three times we've stayed at the World Center proper (we've stayed four or five times at teh condos) we've been upgraded to a suite. There are LOTS of suites at this property. Two times we got a regular King Suite which was nice. One time however, we got a Presidential Suite, which included a dining room table with seating for 10! That suite was very memorable and came complete with a wet bar.
If you have gold or platinum status with Marriott Rewards (stay 50 nights per year for Gold, 75+ nights / year for Plat status), make sure you ask for an upgrade as given the very large inventory of suites--you'll likely get one. The suite is definitely the way to go as several people remarked that the "regular" rooms are just that.
This property has no conceirge level so you'll get a free breakfast if you are Plat. This bfast buffett is AWESOME. It is what a normal full service marriott would have for a Sunday type brunch -- but the world center does it EVERY day--the buffett has tons of fresh fruit and made to order bfast food but also has carving stations, etc.--really worth it!
You definitely NEED a rental car if you are staying at this property as the shuttle they have doesn't cut the muster--it goes like only once per hour and while this property is very close to WDW it still is like 15 mins when you consider getting through the gate, etc.
Also if you don't have a rental car you can't walk to anywhere--make SURE you get the car!
