The Bottom Line: This is a well managed resort for families. It is a bit pricey but not overly. We have visited twice and are looking forward to next years visit.

| rkon02's Full Review: Marriott Orlando World Center Resort |
Let me start this by saying that I travel alot and I stay at a lot of hotels. The Marriott Orlando World Center is a great resort. It is not perfect but it is certainly one of the best full service resorts in Orlando. I have stayed at the Swan, Dolphin. and the Hyatt Grand Cypress. The Marriott World Center is the place to go if you have children and will be in Orlando.
Our first visit was in April 01 and we landed at the Marriott WorldCenter after packing up and leaving the Sheraton by Sea World. We were on a free week using Starwood points and could not stand the Sheraton. It was dirty, an over crowded pool, no towels , and other reasons. Leaving was not a diffcult choice.
It was between the Hyatt and the Marriott and since I had stayed at the Hyatt Grand Cypress just two weeks earlier for a business convention I had a very favorable impression of it. However I recall one of my colleagues raving about the Marriott World Center and decided on paying it a visit.
The MWC is a very impressive resort and is surrounded by a beautiful golf course. The Hotel has been recently renovated and was gorgeous lobby with an amazing pool. It is very nice compared to the Hyatt and I noticed immiedately the number of families with children. My wife and children were already impressed. I approached the front desk manager and explained my situation with the Sheraton and she was very responsive in giving us a great room rate of $155 night with a $15 resoprt fee. This was $100/night lower than the Hyatt and I was now convinced sice I would be now footing the bill. It was Easter week and the Hotel was packed at 2900 rooms. The pool was not as crowded as I had expected and was very well sytaffed with plenty of towels and staff collecting soiled towels throughout the day. There are a couple of pools with the main pool surrounded by waterfalls and a waterslide that is properly staffed all day.
Our second visit was Apr 2002 for a week and this time I used my Marriott Rewards for a week of relaxation. Our second visit was just as pleasant as the first and we stayed at the resort for the whole week except for a couple of dinners out and a rainy afternoon shopping excursion at the nearby outlets. One thing we have observed is there are many families such as ours who are repeat visitors and spend their week at the resort and do not venture out to Disney, Seaworld, or Universal.
Resturants and Food:
I rate MWC as excellent because it has everything Starbucks shop in the lobby, Crispy Creme Donuts, Champions Sports Bar, Food Court (Burgers, sandwiches, pizza, ice cream), Solaris which offers a great breakfst buffet and Sunday Brunch, Merkado a Japaneese Steak house that prepares the food at your table (Like Benihanya). Be sure to ask for Andy for he is very entertaining for the kids. There is also an upscale Northern Italian resturant Tuscano's and an upscale American Steak House - Hawks landing.
Pool side Service is excellent with a very good menu which is delivered right to your chaise.
Rooms - Rooms are average to slight above. Our first vist we stayed in the new wing called the North Wing and the room was clean and your average hotel room. Our second visit I was upgraded to a Grande Vista room which is a room with a pull out and private baclony. It was very suitable for a family of four.
Service - Room Service was ordered one night and the food was delivered on time and hot.
Maid service was lacking on our second visit. I was not impressed and voiced my concerns to the on duty manager. That seemed to take care of the issue. I found a old plastic cup under our bed. Some friends who has checked in found a dirty coffee maker and sock in their room. This was inexcusable and was brought to the managements attention.
**** Other reviewers have complained about price and etc... if you have an issue during your stay call the on duty manager and explain the situation. If you present your situation in a calm manner the issue is always resolved. Our friends who came down unexpectedly for two days were able to neogiate a great rate.
Valet Parking - Expensive 12-14 dollars a night. But my car was always there by the time I got there.
Front Desk - They are awesome and actually were very helpful in getting a very reasonable room for our friends who has drove down early to Orlando and was renting a house. They actually went through great pains to get our friends a room on the same floor as ours when the Hotel was 95% occupancy.
They also rererred me to a local doctor because of a Sinus infection. He actually came to my room and spent an hour examining me and prescribed antibiotics which he had delivered to my room by the pharmacy.
Resort Fee - It was $15 dollars in April 2001 and we did not get charged in April 2002. I think they may have done away with it.
Ammenties - Alot, Golf, tennis, great location ( across Rte 4 from Downtown Disney), Food court, many good resturants, arcade, great pools ( also indoor pool), Very Clean !!!!
I'm looking forward to next years Visit already
