"Manele Bay" is just a fancy name for paradise

Pros:Service, Pool tables, Food, Rooms.
Cons:location, room switch
The Bottom Line: Great resort! Great activities (pool tables, water aerobics); you are definitely pampered! But location was much worse than expected.
Manele Bay is one of the best resorts I have ever stayed at.
Down at the medium-sized pool, the staff pampered you! They did everything for you! They layed out our towels for us on out chair, put our umbrella up for us every day!
There was also an excellent water aerobics class taking place in the pool, too. It is free, and the instructor uses equipment with you so you really get a good workout!
The two wonderful and relaxing jacuzzis on both sides of the pool were always at the perfect temperature, and almost never crowded.
Manele Bay grounds have several different gardens, such as the "Chinese Garden", which had bamboo and other chinese plants.
They also has a pool table room we enjoyed very much. The pool tables and sticks were still in perfect condition. And for those who do not wish to play or are waiting their turn, you can work on a challenging puzzle or watch TV.
The rooms were what we were most amazed with at first. With a wide, open, large bathroom, comfortable beds and chairs, and very nice soaps to use in the shower, we were breathtaken! It was so amazing! But, we had to switch rooms because of COCKROACHES in our room.
The food at the hotel and in town was also very good. Esspecially at a small food "restaurant" in town called "Pele's other garden". (The Manele Bay Shuttle Bus drives you into town almost whenever you want!) They have excellent food (pizza, pizza, and pizza!) and are not at all expensive. It is a small "walk-up-and-order" restaurant.
The staff is as friendly as possible to both kids and adults.
However, there is only ONE con to this resort. Location. Sure, Manele Bay "campus" is luscious and hawaiin-like with gardens and all, but off the resort campus, it is mostly just a volcanic wasteland! No grass or greens - just lava rock and dirt (how pleasant). Houses are broken down, old, and even had Outhouses! No shops, either. So if you are the kind of person who always wants to spend time in town, and "venture around the island", you may find out that if you go to this island, you'll mostly always stay in your hotel.
