Avoid rooms by storage closet

Pros:hotel appearance, room decor, service
Cons:price, ignored room request, a.m. hotel noise
The Bottom Line: Nice, pricey hotel with some internal noise problems.
The Burnham is a nice hotel. Beautiful and well-appointed rooms, great location in the heart of the city, and nice personnel. However, we experienced some problems.
For example, we requested a king bed in a nice room with a view. We received a double bed in a room on the 3rd floor across from the storage closet. This is a dreadful location for those who want to sleep beyond 8:00 a.m. because the noise from the slamming storage door is loud and frequent. To make matters worse, repairs began in the room next to ours at about this time as well.
On the positive side, the staff placed a bottle of wine in our room when they found out that we were celebrating a "major birthday."
Parking tip: If you don't mind a 4 block walk, park in the Monroe Street garage ($13 overnight). Hotel parking is $30.
