Pros: convenient location
very helpful staff
Cons: noisy
amenities not too readily available
The Bottom Line: Good for large groups & for those using their rooms for mostly sleeping and getting ready. If you want luxury, there are better options in Chicago for the same rate.

| jourdanslavie's Full Review: Hyatt Regency Chicago |
I stayed at this hotel for one night. My flight came in early in the morning, and they let me check in way before the normal check-in time (3PM). That left me a lot of time to do a lot of things for the rest of the day. Check in was very quick and check out was even quicker.
I was given a room on the third floor, but it overlooked the roof of the atrium. When I asked if I could be have a room with a view, they offered me an upgrade for $15. Oh well. The bathroom was clean and came with the standard soaps and glasses, but no toothbrushes, which I had forgot.
A room on the lowest guest floor was convenient, as I never had to wait very long at all for an elevator or I could just zip down the stairs to go out.
The room also came with free high speed internet access built in. You don't even need to bring your own cord, they had it all setup on the desk, which was very easy for me to use with my laptop. Just plug in and use. Very convenient, especially for business travelers.
There isn't anything in the decor of the hotel that screams luxury, but rather screams standard hotel. The sheets were standard hotel sheets, the blanket was actually quite ugly and shabby looking in my own opinion. The pillows and mattress were quite comfortable and soft, however. The desks and chairs were all standard as well.
The atrium is very nice, however the fountains were empty when I was there and it left it a little lacking. The atrium is always buzzing with people, as this is a huge hotel and very suitable for conventions, large groups of people and guests who will not be in their rooms very much.
I did not eat in the restaurants but judging from the prices they are expensive. I would suggest getting food and simple things like soda and snacks outside of the hotel. I wanted a soda at night, and there was not one vending machine or store open in the hotel that had it. The regular store was open, but the sodas were not cold.
The location is very convenient to most of the major points in Chicago. Approximately a 5 minute walk to Michigan Avenue and 10-15 minutes to get down to the Art Institute/Buckingham Fountain. Also, during the summer there is a free trolley that stops right outside of the hotel that will take you to major points if you don't feel like walking.
My room rate was around $70 ($90 after taxes). In my opinion a regular room rate of 150-200 is a bit too high for this hotel
