Pros: Decent Location, Concierge Service Helpful
Cons: Walls are Paper Thin, No Pool, No Customer Perks
The Bottom Line: Unless the rates are super cheap, go elsewhere. Paper thin walls are unbearable, customer service is poor, there is no pool.

We stayed here for 5 nights in December, 2007. We brought our children so we booked connecting rooms. We requested a high floor (they have 34) and were put on the 14th floor. The rates for the first room was $149 for the first three nights, $109 for the remaining two. For the second room, we were given a "child rate" of $74.50 for the first 3 nights, $54.50 for the final two nights. There is no pool. This is terrible when you have 4 kids.
The hotel is in a good location. It is a short walk to the el, close to Michigan Avenue and Navy Pier. There is a small grocery store right across the street. They have 2 parking garages in which the going rate was $45 a day.
The rooms themselves were painfully average. One of our rooms had a king bed, the other two doubles. The beds were feather top which was nice. Both rooms needed some upkeep. There were huge gaps in the trim, torn bits of wallpaper, worn carpeting. Both rooms had 1 black and white 18x24 or so photograph of a tourist attraction hanging on the wall. Our pictures were of the Shedd Aquarium and Soldier Field.
The worst thing about our stay was that the walls are paper thin. If you are expecting quiet, forget it. You can hear everything that goes on in the hallway very clearly. Also, there was a man staying in the room next to us who was talking on the phone one morning. He wasn't loud at all, speaking in a normal tone of voice. Whether you wanted to or not, you could plainly hear every word he said as if he were standing right beside you.
When we travel, we often take a laptop which we connect to the tv to view pictures we've taken or watch movies that we brought. This Hyatt locks the tv out so that you cannot connect an sv cable. We called and spoke to the maintenance person who told us it was done purposefully in order to increase pay per view sales. After complaining, we were given 1 free movie. The pay per view movie rates were $14.99 for the majority of movie selections, $19.99 for a select couple of other movies.
At checkout, we were charged parking garage fees for days we did not use. This matter was quickly resolved. Overall, our stay was very disappointing for what you would expect Hyatt standards to be. If we go again , we will likely stay at the Hilton Garden. It's on Michigan Avenue and they have an el station right outside the front door.
