At least they let us switch rooms

Written: Apr 23 '02
Pros:Good Location
Cons:Overpriced, Lacks Amenities
The Bottom Line: Don't stay here unless someone else is paying and your conference is at the hotel.

Room

Our first room was located in an odd shaped corner on the fourth floor. It was part of a larger suite with a murphy bed, a shower (no bath), doors to adjoining rooms on both sides and a coffee table but no desk. My wife convinced me to call the desk and tell them we couldn't sleep on that bed for 5 nights. (The head of the bed sloped down.) The front desk was very nice and switched us to a room on the 16th floor of the west tower. The person at the front desk said that those rooms have a better view too.

View

Our view was right into the office building next door. It was better than the roof we had out the window on the fourth floor.

Bed

The bed was very nice but the first night we noticed that the sheets had a tear in them. There were extra pillows in the closet though and that is nice on a king size bed.

Amenities

Hair dryer in the room. Heck our room had two hair dryers. There was a safe in room. The safe was programmable by the guest. It worked well and did provide some assurance that people would at least have to work to get at my travelers checks. Guests can use the bar/refrigerator in the room for their own items for a mere $2.00 per day. Ice was free though and they do give you an ice bucket.

Lack of Amenities

I was there for a conference and the conference rooms were very nice. The rooms however lacked even a coffee pot. The hotel did provide a coffee bar serving Starbuck's in the lobby for $2.50 per cup. Free Folgers and a 4 cup coffee pot in my room would have made me happier. There was not a pool in the hotel but I think there was an exercise area. Cable TV with free HBO and STARZ. In room Movies starting at $10.00. They were even showing The Matrix. (I saw it 2 years ago in a hotel in Chicago)

Don't use the phone

Calls were $1.15 each even when I called an 800 number to use my calling card.

Conference Rate

The conference rate for our room was $141 a night. I think I would have done better to stay at a different hotel that had coffee in the room.
