Pros: Last place to sell out during large conferences like RSNA.
Cons: Tired rooms, hotel is huge.
The Bottom Line: The rooms feel like cheap motel rooms that have seen better days, the location requires a lot of walking to get anywhere and the bars/restaurants are awful.

I stayed at this hotel for 7 days while attending the RSNA show in 2001. It was where I was able to get a room under $250. The hotel is located on East Wacker Drive, which is close to, but not quite on, the Magnificent Mile. The neighbourhood is not that great.
To save a buck, and because I had brought my husband with me, I booked their "Romance Package" which consisted of a regency club level room with a view and a bottle of champagne on arrival.
The room was tired, and had not been properly cleaned (there were dirty glasses left by the last occupant under the bed). The vanity in the bathroom was cracked. Carpeting, curtains and bed linens all seemed a little old and faded. The view was OK. We were able to see the water between some buildings, and to follow the nightly goings-on in the towering officebuildings that surround the hotel.
We did get the champagne, but this required several phonecalls to the front desk, as we had not received the proper voucher and were being charged.
We went to get a drink at the bars there. The sports bar was awful. Filthy and loud and we could not get the attention of any server. We left without being served. The Big Bar seemed all right, except it was occupied by private functions the whole time we stayed.
Fitness room is OK. It was crowded, but they have lots of cardio equipment: treadmills, steppers, ellipticals. There is one or two weights stations at the back, but the emphasis is on cardio.
We never ate at any of the restaurants in the hotel. We did have room service once, and the food was no good. Sloppily put together and cold on arrival.
I received a package while I stayed there. Nobody notified me that anything had come, and it wasn't until I called the mailroom to inquire that they found it.
I spoke with a Hyatt manager in Germany a few months after my stay, and he informed that "the 2000-room Hyatt on Wacker in Chicago is the worst Hyatt in the world". I've been to a few and I certainly haven't seen one as worn out as this one.
Go up the street on Michigan Ave. There are places there that seem a better value.
