Prime location

Pros:Location
Cons:Price

I stayed at Hyatt Regency-Chicago about two years ago during winter. The hotel has about 2000 rooms and is located at a prime location in downtown Chicago that is about two blocks east of Michigan Avenue and it also faces the Chicago River. Because of its location, you do not really need a cab to get around.

The distinctive things about this hotel are that they have a very large luxurious lounge, a huge luxurious bar and three famous restaurants in the hotel. However, their basic double rooms are not as nice as the lounge. Of course, my room was very clean but the size of the regular double room was just like a regular room at Holiday Inn. (I am sure that you can get a better room if you can afford a king or a suite room.) My room had a view of both the Chicago River and the city that was quite impressive and very romantic.

The hotel staff are very polite and very professional just like at any other expensive hotel. Finally, the greatest thing about the hotel for me was that the check out time was PM 12:00 which gave me some time to sober up myself after staying out too late in the city. On the other hand, one bad thing about the hotel was that a cancellation for a reservation must be made at least 72 hours (or 3 days) prior to arrival.

Compared to other hotels in the downtown area, this one gives you the most amenities and the best view for the most reasonable price.
