Good location, OK rooms

Written: Oct 28 '08
Pros:Service, location, bed, linens.
Cons:Cleanliness, out-dated bathroom.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this hotel for a one night stay if you are looking for something basic and in a good location.

We just got back from a one night stay at this property and stayed in a standard room (though we payed the $25-$30 fee for a high room w/ a better view).  The lobby is nice.  Its not Four-Seasons or Ritz nice, but better than I expected.  Check in was easy and the staff at reception were nice.

The room itself was your standard hotel room.  Nothing was shabby but nothing was overly outstanding (except possibly the flat screen TV).

The beds are very comfortable.  The pillows and sheets were top notch.  Even the duvet cover felt like a very soft silk.  (I'm sure it was some type of microfiber, but it felt like silk.)

However, the bathrooms need some serious updating and cleaning.  The tile had black mold growing on the grout and we found hairs & smudges of who knows what on doors, light switches, etc.  The toiletries were not exciting.  I expect things like Q-tips and cottonballs, but they only offered bar soap, shampoo and conditioner.

We told staff about the cleanliness/mold and they refunded our breakfast cost & gave us Starwood points.  We thought that was very nice, as we weren't expecting anything and just wanted to tell them about the mold.

The location is great and views of the river/city fabulous too.

I had heard less than great reviews about the breakfast, but we thought it was pretty good (we had the Sunday breakfast buffet).

Overall, it was good for a one night stay - but if we were to go downtown for a few nights, it would be back at the Four Seasons, Ritz or Sofitel.
