My wife and I frequently stay at hotels in Chicago for a weekend in the city. We have stayed at a majority of the nice hotels in Chicago however our experience at the Swissotel was one of the worst we have had. Our view was of a construction site which is soon to be a Donald Trump building that will ultimately block a lot of the lake views from the hotel. The overall atmosphere was cold and uninviting and when hotel personnel began vacuuming the hallway floor at 8:00a we were very disappointed. I called the frontdesk to complain and was shocked by the rude treatment and the comment 'we vacuum the floors on a schedule and nobody else has complained'. The accomodations were average and there was a strange, persistent smell that permeated the hallways and the rooms. Overall we have stayed at half a dozen nicer hotels in Chicago in the same price range. Hotels with better views, better locations, and way better service.
