Swissotel Chicago- European Pinache
Written: Jun 13 '01
Pros:Impecably clean rooms, nice modern European decor, luxurious feel, excellent location and view.
Cons:Several blocks from train station, somewhat pricey unless you catch holiday saver rates
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a great place to stay for business, a classy night on the town, or just to visit Chicago the Swissotel is a great choice.
The Swissotel has a very distinct European flavor that appeals to business travelers and vacationers alike. Not a hotel that kids run around in or a place for late-night partiers to stumble into, this hotel has class. It's not the cheapest place in town, but it's a great example of paying for what you get, and getting what you paid for. It has stylish, modern rooms with all the amenities, awesome views of the lake front, Navy Pier, and the River North area, and friendly organized service personell. There were no hassles with making reservations over the phone, no hassles checking in, and check out took all of about 20 seconds. You couldn't ask to have it easier. The only drawback I've noticed is it's a long walk to the train station in foul weather, but the doorman is quick to tuck you into a cab under his umbrella, and it's only a short drive to virtually everything, due to the hotel's ultra-central location.
