We have just returned from a weekend stay at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel in the Back Bay area of Boston. Overall, a very pleasant visit.
1. I obtained our room through 'Priceline.com'. As you know, you DON'T know where you will be until you actually purchase the room. We were pleasantly surprised to find out our bid of $55 per night was accepted by the Park Plaza. They normally run $180 or higher.
2. With Priceline you are guaranteed one double bed. Since there were three of us, I was wondering who was going to sleep on the floor. No problem! The very friendly girl at the check-in desk suggested we take a handicap accessible room with a king size bed because it would have more room for a rollaway. The room was approximately 10'x 20' with a large closet and beautifully tiled bathroom. More than enough room and at no additional cost.
3. The room was tastefully decorated and clean. The king bed as well as the rollaway were comfortable. The usual amenities for a hotel of this class were there. Individual climate control, ironing board and iron, lots of big fluffy towels and toiletry items.
4. Although there are many dining choices on the premises, we only sampled the breakfast buffet. Though fairly pricey at $14.50 per person, the food was quite good and the selection was more than adequate.
5. There is a health club downstairs, beauty/barber salon, gift shop and the major airlines have offices there. You are one block from the Arlington St. subway stop. The staff was extremely helpful with directions and answering any questions. Valet parking is $24/day with unlimited in/out.
6. The ONLY negative point and one that would not be a problem under normal circumstances, is the walls between rooms seem a little thin. There was a college fraternity leadership conference going on and the boys next door got a little loud during the night. Not really bad enough to complain about, but you could hear them.
7. I would stay there again if I could get another great rate like this last one.
