Pros: Convenient location, comfortable bed, pool, room with a view of the Charles
Cons: Noise travels, crowded lobby, impersonal and large tower hotel
The Bottom Line: Average. Good location, comfortable rooms, view are countered by hugeness, crowds, noise level. Rate on Priceline can't be beat; but if I paid the hotel's going rate I'd be disappointed.

| lizcoll's Full Review: Sheraton Boston |
I went to Boston for my brother's wedding. Many of us decided to stay here for a few days after the wedding. Check-in was in the large, anonymous lobby. It is a good thing I belong to the Starwood Preferred Guest program, or my wait would have been interminable. The hotel honors SPG memberships, even for rooms bought on Priceline (as I did, for a GREAT rate of $75, much less even than the special "wedding rate" of $109, vs the Sheraton website rate of $159).
However, they initially assigned us to a room in the South tower, whereas everyone else in our party was in the north tower... the staff quickly corrected this, and we were off to our new room ... next to the noisiest family on earth. Seriously, we could hear Junior's whining, Mom's chiding, Dad's screaming at kid, then Mom screaming at Dad for screaming at kid. SO, back to the huge train-station lobby for another room change. This time being an SPG member didn't help, and we waited in line for close to 30 minutes. The clerk, Julie, was quite friendly and apologetic, however, and gave us yet another room, this one with a spectacular view of the Charles River. Definitely request a river view room, and be aware that noise from the hallways and your neighbor's room travels fast, so also consider a room far from the elevator.
The room itself was pretty standard convention-hotel fare, reasonably sized. We had a handicap-access bathroom, so it was very large, but the other bathrooms I saw (in our friends' rooms) were small. I thought the housekeeping was fine, our room was clean throughout our stay.
The pool and deck are a nice bonus, especially in Boston. However, the hotel should NOT charge its own guests $6 to use its own gym--just seemed unfair to me. Don't bring your car--you don't need it to get around Boston anyway, and the parking is $35/day.
The hotel is attached to the mall, which is fine if you like the usual mall shops, and a plus if the weather is bad, but there are far more interesting places to eat and shop in Boston than this mall.
We were here over 4th of July weekend, so there were a LOT of families here, as well as a convention, which may have upped the noise level--there were always kids crying in the lobby, screaming in the pool, etc. I have a feeling that is anomalous, however, as the hotel seems more suited to business travelers and conventioneers than families.
