Pros: The elegant sister hotel to the Bellagio in Vegas in Biloxi!!
Cons: Requires lots of walking, and can be a pretty noisey place in the downstairs levels.
My first stay at the Beau Rivage was simply wonderful. The hotel is enormous and has over 2,000 rooms. It is sitting on the Gulf Of Mexico in the middle of downtown Biloxi and is the sister hotel of the Bellagio in Vegas.
It was obviously done by the same designer, since the millions of yards of fabric are the same, the casino is set up about the same and the layout of the interior public areas of the hotel are very similar.
Needless to say , this is a world class hotel. The people who work there are well schooled in the art of customer service and I find this to be a real jewel of a property!
I found the hotel to be comparable to the Venetian in furnishings in the rooms, at a much lesser price on a per diem basis.
The food is sumputous and the manner in which Beau Rivage gives out comp meals is perhaps one of the most liberal I have seen in the gaming industry.
Their casino is the best paying one in Biloxi currently. It did not always used to be that way, when they first opened, however, as of this writing, and as this last visit, it was indeed, the case.
The casino is huge and provides virtually every slot that one can think of. The gaming tables are many and there are many different levels to choose from. The drinks are brought quickly and often and by people who are genuinely nice.
The same is true in the dining areas. I find this to be true in all of Biloxi, where the people are just lovely.
It is also a very safe place to be, and I have been there alone, on a few occasions, and found it to be very safe.
Beau Rivage practices the habit of having security people check for people's hotel keys after 10pm at night near the elevators, which is a practice I appreciate, to keep the local crazies out of the hotel sleeping floors.
Also, they have lots of well lit, adequate parking and many people to take care of the valet area. They have recently expanded their dining areas to accomodate the numbers of people who take advantage of their liberal meal giveaways. Dinner is served at the buffet from 4-11 pm and there is ALWAYS a line. For $17.99, there is little you can think of that is not on this buffet spread. It is almost embarrassing to think of what they offer, versus how many people are starving in this world!!
The rooms are spacious and very well appointed with European provencial furnishings. The lighting is very subtle and makes for a nice touch. The paintings are modern and somehow do not go, with the rest of the decor.
The interior of the hotel in the public areas is indeed, a sight to behold. Today, they were putting in over 2100 yellow mum plants around the walkways! The entire interior is based on a yellow motif and goes throughout the hotel in varying degrees with a highly European tapestried effect throughout.
This is truly one of the ten best hotels in the US and is a great deal for any one travelling through the state of Mississippi. It is amazing that they were able to bring this caliber of property to the state of Mississippi!!
The hotel also contains a performing arts facility for the hotel to constantly have regular stage and celebrity performances. Lord of the Dance is currently performing there. Prior to this, Cirque du Soleil was there for over a year and did a smashing job as well.
Take a few days and enjoy this space- make it a gift to yourself.
