The Venitian-Venice in the Las Vegas

Written: Dec 12 '00
Pros:Restaurants, canals, shopping, casino, rooms, location
Cons:price

I spend alot of time in Las Vegas, and I say with absolute conviction that The Venitian is one of the nicest hotels on the strip. The casino is very classy with a large selection of cards and slots. The canals are absolutely amazing and although you may not ever go on a gondola ride (I never have) they undoutbly add to the athsteticly pleasing personna of the Venitian. It is hard to walk through the canal shops without being awed by Venice, Las Vegas style. In order to truely express this I will share a small antecdote:
I was in Las Vegas last summer with a friend of mine and my family. We had a reservation for dinner in "Postrio" (San Fransisco). We walked along the canals looking for our restaurant when we passed through an archway, at that point my friend exclaimed, "how did we get outside?" This is to say that the sky and remarkable creation of the hotel completely baffled my friend into thinking that we were really outside and no longer in the building at all!! This is a true example of the unreal, yet fantastic wonders of Las Vegas and the Venitian.
For a moment I would like to talk about the location of the Venetian, The Venetian has one of the most desirable locations on the strip. The front of the hotel faces the Mirage and it is possible to see the volcano (every 15 minutes at night) from your window. It is also possible to view the Bellagio fountains (an awe inspiring experiance) which show every half an hour or so at night. Once at the Venitian you are in walking distance of alomost every hotel on the strip, which include such famous names as:
Bellagio
Mirage
Paris Las Vegas
Caesars Palace
The flamingo Hilton

You will also be able to take a cab or another form of public transportation to such hotels as:
The MGM grand
New York New York
excaliber
Monte Carlo
Circus Circus
The Sratosphere

You may choose to ride a roller coaster or to an arcade (roller coaster 1; arcade 2) for this may I suggest:
Circus Circus: 1 & 2
New York New York: 1 & 2
Stratosphere: 1 & 2

Hope to see you in Las Vegas and at the Venetian!!
