This Summer I visited the new Venetian Casino, There is no finer looking casino in all of Las Vegas. This is the most beautiful work of architecture in the city. On a street filled with clashing styles and gaudy images, The Venetian is big enough on its own to make you forget that for some reason Paris is right down the street from a Pyramid and a pirate ship.
What lovely architecture this casino has achieved. It is truely a wonder to look at, Outside you are greeted by a breathtaking view- I will not do it justice to describe it, just look at the picture and imagine that it is at least 100 times nicer. What you do not see in the picture is the giant pool of water in front of the casino. Complete with dark swans swimming about the water and gondolas to ride around in, The Venetian attempts, and greatly suceedes, in taking little attractions of Italy and bringing the feel of it to Las Vegas, along with improving on the originals. To anyone who has been to Italy and ridden in the Gondolas, you will note a distinctive smell in Italy, The water you ride through being so terribly polluted. At the Venetian, the water sparkles clear, the people in the casino passing through point and take pictures of you as you ride through the shallow waters indoors. The Gondolas are very inexpensive 20 dollars for a couple for the ride, which includes your Gondoleer singing in italian, a love song. And, you are not allowed to tip him! so the cost is not going to go up. You do have the option to purchase a photo of you as you are about to disembark, buy it if it looks good. It makes a nice souvenier.
There are good restaurants inside the Venetian, and many many shops selling all sorts of things, from toys, to very expensive dresses and jewelry. One could spend an an entire day in the Venetian just looking around. It takes Ceasars Palace and does it one better, without all those freaky talking statues. The Venetian also has Madame Taussad's Wax Museum just before entering the main building. If you have never seen this, I'd recommend this too, It is amazing how real they make these models.
