Boutique hotel without the boutique price

Pros: Excellent accomodations, plush and spacious for a reasonable price.
Cons: Somewhat out of the way, but that might be what you are looking for.
The Bottom Line: I loved this hotel and if we return to Manhattan I would love to stay there again.

My husband and i stayed at this hotel December 2002. It was the first time either of us had been to Manhattan and it is a much needed second honeymoon for us. We researched a regular room but when we checked in we were upgraded to a suite for free. By looking out the window of our room you could see the Empire State Building (up in the sky, it is not actually next to it). Our room had a very plush feel. The decor and linens were first class. There was an entrance way inside the room with a closet to place coats, umbrellas, etc. In fact we forgot to bring an umbrella with us and there was one in the closet placed there by the hotel. I think we actually had to agree to buy the umbrella if we opened it but since it was pouring one morning when we woke up and did not have an umbrella with us, we were glad to pay the reasonable price they asked. The bed and linens were lovely. There was a separate seating area with a second TV which was nice for the times we spent several hours in the room. It did not feel cramped. From what I understand about hotel rooms in Manhattan small (very small) is actually the norm. I did not feel this room was small by any standards. My favorite part however was the very spacious and luxourious bathroom and jetted tub. The tub was extra deep and when filled with hot water and bubbles...I could have lived in that tub for the entire trip! The hotel offered a very nice continental breakfast each morning that offered many items and was more than enough to fill my husbands big breakfast appetite. We were also given a coupon for complimentary champagne on our first night.
