Pros:Location, Location, Location,
Cons:Parking expensive, average for NYC but still expensive
The Bottom Line: Perfect location. Everything else above average. Not cheap - NYC is very expensive place to visit.
This is the place to stay with the family.
If you are staying with the family, do it here. NYC is not a driving city. Especially if you are driving in and parking, consider this hotel.
Walking is a concern. Safety is a concern.
What to do is a concern.
The suites are not huge. NYC rooms are small. A suite is only marginally better than a normal double bed room. However, 2 double beds and a pullout and two rooms; for NYC its big. The room was not directly facing Times Square but still a good, only partially obstructed, view of the square. The suite has a very clean, big bathroom.
Beds could be more comfortable... even for a family of 5.
The situation: 3 kids 5, 7, and 10 - Radio City is very close. Many maps are deceiving. It is a very safe and short walk - 5 minutes??? Tops! After the show it still seems/is very close! In any case, walkable, quick, high traffic and lots to see. - Couple of blocks in the flashiest part of Manhattan.
Empire State Building is a much longer walk. Doable (we did it) but back and forth is about the limit. However the walk down Broadway using the "Thanksgiving Day Parade Route gives the family a lot too see and talk about. Safe and busy... ESPN zone is family friendly as well. NYC chain restaurant prices are outrageous. ESPN is only a bit expensive in comparison - children's meals are good and "regular" price. There is one just outside the heart of Times Square. This is a place to go with the family. The walk was short and through the best of Times Square.
I always keep Doubletree in mind for family travel. However I watch prices and not devote to any on chain. Not disappointed with this facility. Not cheap but when youre walking... Location, location, location.
