Pros:Location, friendly & helpful staff, beautiful rooms
Cons:Elevators, Overly-sensitive mini-bar
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a great hotel near the theater district, Hilton Times Square is the one!!!
I stayed at the Times Square Hilton during Memorial Day weekend. To my surprise, I was able to get a room at the amazingly low price of $179. Definitely a bargain for where this hotel is located - right in the heart of Times Square.
First arriving at the hotel, I was greeted by a very friendly and helpful doorman. He told me about the parking regulations and how I had to be back within 24 hours to claim my vehicle or else they would charge me an additional day (he gave me the tip to come back before the time expired and simply move my truck to the lot across from the hotel - very convenient!!!). He also chatted with my traveling group as we were leaving. Very nice experience.
Check-in was simple and very quick. They had at least 2 staff people at the desk at all times in addition to the concierge (who was also very helpful in finding local attractions for me and my travel mates).
The rooms were very nice and seemed brand new. They had all the standard amenities you could ask for. Seemed like a great room for a business traveler too since there was a small desk with an internet port.
Now onto the negatives (which I'm embarassed to even complain about) - the elevators. When you enter from the ground level, you must take one elevator to the lobby which is on the 20th floor. Then you have to take another elevator to get to your rooms. I know it's being picky but I guess I'm not use to the idea of having a hotel lobby NOT on the ground floor. Also, be careful of the mini-bar. The morning of check-out, I stumbled across this neat little refrigerator filled with goodies. I simply opened the door and touched a few items. Well, needless to say, my check-out bill was $30 higher because of my 'touching.' The hotel clerk did remove the charges and she admits that it's common for that to happen. Darn computers!! I say just do it the old way - whatever is missing, that is what you get charged for!!!
Overall I would HIGHLY recommend the Hilton Times Square especially if you have events planned such as a Broadway show and/or dinner. Everything is simply a few blocks away from this great hotel. I definitely plan on staying here again.
