For a Hilton, it sucks!
Written: Oct 16 '00
Pros:Tall building, great location, Krispy Kreme
Cons:Tasteless decor, horrible Health club, no ethernet
This in short is the worst HILTON hotel I have ever stayed in. Don't let all that mumbo jumbo about the futuristic look and the name fool you. The decor is tacky and outdated, cheap and tasteless.
I stayed in a Deluxe/ King size bed room on the 41st floor. Elevators are fast and modern, the lobby is impressive with well appointed walnut finishings. But....
When I got in to the room, I was dissapointed. The room furniture looks like something out of the set of the days of our lives!. Cheap finished wood, ugly uggh...this hotel, for a Hilton is badly in need of refurbasihing.
Health club on the 3rd floor is a joke, the sauna is about the size of my fridge (I don't eat at home, I'm a take away guy... so duh, go figure). The pool (aside from the view) is ugly and scary.
No ethernet connection! (for a business hotel?)
Service is okay, I'm an Hhonnors Silver VIP so I got the usual Silver perks. Free welcome drink, a free glass of wine with dinner, that sort of thing.
This hotel is freqented by a lot of tourists and tour groups so expect crowds in the lobby.
Concierge is inefficent. Their are about 3 of them in the lobby and they all don't get along. I was asking their opinion about how to get to the Upper east side the quickest, late afternoon (hello cab or subway?) and the conceirge were arguing!. I just walked away politely and took a cab and got stuck in traffic.
The only plus : Near where you need to be for a meeting (in most cases). And if you're up early, get down to the lobby and there's a Krispy Kreme right across the steeet.
Oh and if you can, stay at Hilton on the upper east side.
