| cptpjr's Full Review: The Waldorf=Astoria? |
Look,
I have read all of the reviews here and they are mostly extremes--however, the stars are about right on for the overall rating.
My wife and I are pretty savy business and travel people. We usually stay at some of the best of the best. Normally, we stay at the Ritz-Carltons, Four Seasons and small boutique hotels--the Waldorf does not compare and whoever calls this "ultimate luxury," in my opinion, has not stayed at anything that is truly luxury. Get past the lobby, people. The service was normal and the services were normal--not at the real luxury class level. This is the busiest "tourist" hotel I have seen.
I wanted to stay at the WA b/c of the reputation and history--we paid full price for a King size room. It was clean, it was cozy--everything you expect from a HILTON HOTEL. However, it was not posh, not gorgeous, not luxury class.
For those of you who don't travel and are not used to great places, you won't have any clue what I am talking about.
For those of you who DO travel and no what luxury is, this is not the place and will disappoint.
