Pros:Attentive staff, wonderful atmosphere & location gives you views of Cleveland revamped downtown.
Cons:Price...but so worth it!
The Bottom Line: One great hotel, in one wonderful and exciting city! Not for those who want to save money, but for those who appreciate luxury and service.
I cannot imagine staying anywhere but the Ritz when in Cleveland! From the attentive desk clerk, to the hotel linens, everything is as it should be. Once you stay at a Ritz, you will hardly settle for less! The hotel is located in the heart of Cleveland, and offers an sort of antiqued city look to it's inner decor. In addition, Cleveland's downtown has grown quite amazing over the years, and always has a certain something the beacons you there. The Ritz is wonderful for a night away from it all, or perhaps for a couple to stay after a Tribe game etc. The shopping is great in Cleveland, and the places to eat are too numerous to mention.
We decided to stay club level....this included extra "services" we enjoyed, including a private lounge, which offered five daily food and beverage presentations, a full service club concierge, and, if you were willing to pay, the presidential suite, which I sweet talked the manager into letting me tour since it was empty...it included, in the five room suite, all of the regular guest room features(which I list in my room description below) and also...
Living room, dining room, butlers pantry, master bedroom and bath with whirlpool tub, oh and a stocked pantry!...
large screen television, and state-of-the art stereo system!
It truly was a great room, but very expensive too. I could have made a third of my house payment with it's price tag!
Our suite was beautiful(not the presidential suite..sigh..)..We chose the club level suite, apx. 450 square feet, a private sitting area, and one and a half marble baths, fresh flowers, plush robes, truffles. The decor was lovely, dark, stately furniture and a great view of Lake Erie. The room is so CLEAN. This is one of the few places you do NOT have to worry if the sheets were changed! Ritz is known for their linens, which include double down comforters, and down pillows. The staff was polite and extremely friendly, and the in-hotel restaurant was quite good(The Century)....additional guest room features were...
Lighted makeup mirror, hair dryer and scale
Suit, skirt and padded hangers
In-room safe deposit box
STSN High-speed Internet access
Voicemail
Twice-daily housekeeping attention
Complimentary overnight shoeshine
Overnight laundry service
Evening Turndown
Complimentary morning newspaper
Babysitting services available upon request
Professional massage therapist available upon request
AM/FM clock radio with alarm, CD player
Sumptuous marble baths
Fully stocked mini refreshment bar
Plush terry or lightweight bathrobe
Multiline telephones with hold button
Generously sized desk
European toiletries
The only negative thing I can say is that the way the hotel is set up there is no "front desk", or at least it is not right up front, if is off of the elevator to the left, and not at street level. Also the valet car service is sort of slow, and is the only option.(being a woman, when you are ready to leave to shop, you want to leave!) Our bags were left curbside on a luggage cart for a while when we checked in as well. This is not good when you may have left expensive jewelry and clothing in them. (Which was silly of us to do anyhow)
The hotel does have a state of the art fitness facility, but no pool that I could locate. This was not a big deal for us, but for some it may be. Really though this is not the type of hotel that you would frolic and hang out poolside, or get onto the elevator soaking wet from the pool. The Ritz in Cleveland is more of business like setting, a beautiful century decor mixed with modern amenities.
Other great things were the package deal Ritz offers for weddings, anniversaries etc., they range from truffles and flowers in the room to a rose strewn suite. This particular Ritz books up quickly during prime baseball season months. (when the team is doing well)....so you might want to book early then. The hotel is very close to several malls some in walking distance. It is also a short drive to Beachwood Mall for great shopping. My husband and I make this a few times a year event to stay here and do some shopping and fine dining.
Cleveland's Finest Hotel, Hands Down!
