| timmount's Full Review: Inn At The Market |
Background
I suspect the "Market" in this hotel's name refers to Pike Market, Seattles equivalent to New York City's Fulton Fish Market, although Pike Market has more flavor (and better fish). This is where the mongers throw the fish across the market to where the fish is sold or wrapped. All the different seafood brought into Seattle comes through this great old market along with flowers, fresh produce, and some other sundries that tourists are all too eager to purchase.
Hotel
Up at the top of the hill overlooking the market and harbor sits this refurbished hotel. It faces not the street but a small courtyard in between the buildings. Although "refurbished" no detail was left out to make this hotel a pleasure in which to reside. The decor is fashionably comfortable with a very friendly looking lobby.
We found the staff to seem proud to be associated with the hotel and to be very helpful although not at all condescending.
Our room was large and had a great picture window looking out on the harbor. From our room you could watch the ferries coming and going through the harbor. The furniture was well selected and of good quality, the TV was sitting in a armoir. There were two very comfortable easy chairs and a large table. The linens and draperies were matching and of high quality. There was plenty of space for two people to feel comfortable even after accounting for all the luggage and souveniers. The bathroom is totally modern and european in design.
Overall
If you want to get the flavor of Seattle there is no better place to spend a couple of days. Restaurants, stores, museums including the world famous Seattle Museum of Art, and markets abound within walking distance and you can sit on the rooftop balcony in a comfortable Adirondack chair and be served wine while using your binoculars to watch the ships motor around the sound.
