| mlnelson's Full Review: Gold Coast Hotel & Casino |
(I have to state right up front that, prior to staying at the Gold Coast I lived in Las Vegas for two years, and the Gold Coast was where I played.)
I first heard about the Gold Coast back in December of 1995. I had moved to Las Vegas about 6 months before that. And, while I had heard of the hotel, I had never been in there. However, my parents were coming into town, and as it was the holiday season the best I could do for hotels was placing them in the Las Vegas Hilton for two nights and the Gold Coast for two nights. I figured they would like the Hilton and live with the Gold Coast.
Well, I was wrong. They hated the Hilton, stating that is was too crowded, noisy, and that the staff was very "stiff lipped". The Gold Coast they loved. Everyone went out of their way for them, the staff was very polite, and my mother (a bingo fanatic) loved the place. Since then the only place my family stays is at the Gold Coast.
The rooms are standard Vegas fare. Nothing fancy, but a room is a room. The casino I have always found to be very friendly, and I consider myself "friends" with most of the staff. The coffee shop to me is one of the best in Las Vegas, and I have yet to have a bad meal there or anyplace else.
The best part: the price. I've never paid more than $60 for a room there, and that was during the busiest time of year.
