| luvtigger_girl's Full Review: Palace Station Hotel & Casino |
My boyfriend and I got invited to a wedding in Las Vegas This past Thanksgiving Weekend. He went online looking for a good deal on a room for us for the three days that we would be there. After we picked up our jaws from seeing the $300+ rooms we found the Palace Station. For three people it was only $177. We agreed that it would be the best that we found and made reservations online. The reservations were simple to make and we printed out a voucher immediately. I expected trouble when we came to check in (always wary of online reservations) but everything went perfectly. The check-in girl was helpful and we immediately had our room keys. The employees were great. The valet parking attendant was ready to help us right away and assisted the bellhop in getting our luggage and other things from the car. The bellhop also took us right to our room and set our things inside.
The room itself was very pleasant. We were not in the main hotel but in the rooms they call the Courtyard. It had the usual phone, alarm clock, and TV that most rooms have. The beds were warm and comfortable. We only had two pillows per bed but the housekeeping staff was more than quick in bringing up more when I called. The were also efficient in bringing more towels when I asked. The room was very clean and each day when housekeeping came up they cleaned it up again. We were a messy group and they did a great job. The only down side to the room was the small shower but that was a small thing.
The food there was absolutely amazing! The first meal I had there was their buffet style dinner in the restaurant they called "The Feast". We affectionately re-named it "The Beast" because the amount of food that is offered there is so overwhelming it practically growls at you. I loved the selection. I had a steak, my way, medium-rare cooked right in front of me. I had the choice of many fruits and salads. there were two different kinds of fish and delicious mashed potatoes. The drinks were bottomless, even milk, juice and soda. Most places you go would charge. I left that place stuffed like the Thanksgiving Turkey! We also ate at the Iron Horse Cafe where my boyfriend and I had the best pancakes ever. He had a banana filled, topped, and sauced pancake plate and I had the chocolate chip pancakes. Both orders were huge, inexpensive, and absolutely tasty. We missed a few other restaurants in the Hotel, but from what I heard from the other patrons they were just as great.
The entertainment there was great too. The gambling was fun and easy to understand. I did not know how to play Craps but the man running it was more than happy to explain to me the way its played. All of the dealers and other employees were wonderful. Their jobs are enhanced by tips and these people knew how to have the right charm and helpfulness to maximize the generousity. The slots were fun to play and fortunately I broke even while my boyfriend won 50$. We also got the chance to go to a club like setting they had from 9pm to 1am. Each night they offered different kinds of musical entertainment. The night we went they had a salsa music night with a DJ as well as a live band later in the evening. The music was great and the people dancing were unbelievable.
I loved this experience. If you are looking for a casino/hotel to enjoy, Palace Station is it. Inexpensive, charming, and delicious is the way I see it. Try it yourself and see!
