Pros:Food, Pool, Real Resort-like, No Kids, Vegas - but not overbearing or too loud.
Cons:No kids
My title may be a misnomer, as there is nothing "skinny" about Bellagio;
it is, as all the kids today are saying, "phat." This review would be geared towards you if:
1)you want to stay in only the nicest hotels in Vegas,
2)you are willing to spend the cash,
3)you have no qualms about being "non-kid friendly."
Wanna know how I knew the Bellagio would be a good resort/hotel/casino right when I first entered? It smelled good. Oh yes. No joke. There is a flower conservatory just off the main hotel lobby that is gorgeous. Tons of fresh flowers; their scents emanating all over that part of the hotel. A very nice touch when you consider the myriad of hotels that smell like stale cigarette smoke.
Wanna know the next thing I noticed that put the Bellagio at the top of the A-list? The noise factor. Or more to the point, the lack of noise- factor. Unlike other casinos, the slot machines aren't ringing overbearingly loud. The Bellagio isn't first and foremost trying to get you to gamble; it seems their "raison d'etre" is to make the guest comfortable. And I gotta tell you, I liked it.
The rooms? Spacious enough. Beds were comfortable as all get-out. Firm mattresses, robes to lay around in, HUGE bathrooms with a separate shower and bath.
We were 2 couples in a room with 2 queens. We had more than enough room. But we also spent most of our waking moments out and about or by the pool.
The pool(s) is/are sweet as well. Laid out large, we never felt like there wasn't enough to go around as there are 5 of them.
You know those 24 Hour Cafes all the hotels have? Well the Bellagio's is actually good. And reasonable.
The other food establishments in the hotel? Good and PRICEY.
Those are the basics, here are a quick few special things to note:
- a piece of chocolate and beds turned down before bedtime.
- drinks by the pool are ridiculously expensive, and don't have enough "spice" if you know what I mean (only part that makes the hotel pedestrian)
- The lake show is over-rated most of the time; occasionally interesting.
This is a hotel to go to feel as if you are on holiday, a real vacation.
And since it is so central on the strip, it is a great place from which to embark.
But it is oh so nice to come back to the Bellagio after enduring the crowded hell that the rest of Vegas seems to be.
As I noted at the beginning, this is not a kid-friendly hotel. There is a very small arcade, and that is it. There are even warnings at each entrance that people under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by adults.
And that, for me, helps to make The Bellagio a great place to stay.
I will never stay anywhere else in Vegas again.
