Pros: Beautiful rooms, awesome pool area, young crowd, accommodating and friendly staff
Cons: Extremely loud casino floor, off the Strip (not necessarily bad)
The Bottom Line: I recommend staying here, particularly if you're 21-30. The rooms are excellent and the casino could be a great time if you're looking to gamble and dance without much talking.

| amb1124's Full Review: Hard Rock Hotel and Casino |
Although this hotel and casino have been reviewed many times, there are no recent reviews. After reading some of the other reviews in this category, I believe that several aspects of this hotel have improved in the last few years. For example, a few people mentioned noisy rooms, but despite staying on a lower level (5th) near an elevator, we found our room extremely peaceful and quiet. We also did not encounter some of the service issues that others have. Hopefully the Hard Rock has responded to this sort of feedback and my experience is more like the average now. Overall, I give the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino an excellent rating and would not hesitate to stay there again. While the casino and lobby are not my favorite in Vegas, the rooms are excellent and I do not have a single complaint about them.
Recently, my husband and I traveled to Vegas for a wedding but arrived a night ahead of our friends. We decided to book a room in a different hotel from where we would be staying for the rest of the weekend and enjoy a little variety. Based on the room prices advertised on Vegas.com, we decided to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The price for the room was about $175, and we reserved a double room.
When we arrived at the hotel, the receptionist noticed that we were only staying for one night. In an attempt to woo us to extend our stay, she upgraded us at no additional cost to a king suite. She also gave us two free tickets to see Colin Quinn perform stand-up the next evening (ugh). The staff was extremely gracious and pleasant. However, this interaction brought to light my single biggest complaint about the Hard Rock--the volume. It was very difficult to hear the receptionist while we were checking in, even though she was speaking in a normal tone of voice and we were standing only a few feet away from her.
When we entered our room, we were pleasantly surprised by how large and well-appointed it was. We had an extremely large living room/kitchen featuring a large flat screen tv, modern-style couches, and a mini-bar that featured CDs, books, condoms and other sex items, and Hard Rock souvenirs in addition to the expected food and beverages. The bedroom was equally as large as the living room and boasted a king-sized bed as well as another couch and seating area. Both rooms had large windows that opened out above the pool area, which is beautiful. In the morning we spent some time people-watching from these windows. The bathroom had a large ante-room with sinks, closets, full length mirrors, and luxurious cotton bathrobes (available for purchase as well as for wearing in the hotel) and then a rather standard toilet/shower room.
We went down to the lobby to check out the gambling scene and have a drink, but ended up bringing our cocktails back upstairs. The crowd in the Hard Rock is very young--I'd guess on average, early twenties--and very energetic and loud. Plus, the music was extremely loud. To put this criticism in perspective, you should note that I am only in my mid-twenties myself and a music fan. The Hard Rock is really excessively loud and it is impossible to have any sort of conversation there. The volume would be appropriate for a concert, but it's noticeably louder than any other casino floor in Vegas.
That said, I think it's a plus for a younger traveler to stay in a place with a younger crowd like the Hard Rock. In many ways I felt less out of place there than in some of the casinos with older clientele. I also noticed that in general the crowd in the Hard Rock Casino was dressed-up, and looked more like they were about to go clubbing than like tourists. For me, this was a bonus because it fit more with the idea of Vegas than people with fanny packs and blindingly white sneakers.
Despite the noise of the lobby, the hotel room was peacefully quiet.
Other things I noticed about the Hard Rock: The rock memorabilia displayed throughout the lobby and casino is very interesting and worth looking at, if you appreciate music. The Hard Rock also has a number of restaurants, including one 24-hour diner-type establishment that I have heard is good, although we didn't get to eat there. The Hard Rock is not located on the Las Vegas Strip, so be prepared to take a taxi to other casinos if you stay there. However, we found the price of these taxi rides to be quite reasonable (I believe it was around $10).
