This Casino Is Getting a Bit Old But,

Written: May 01 '06
Pros:location, clean
Cons:elevator set-up, needs remodeling, cramped casino
The Bottom Line: It was a clean place to crash in-between our doings in Vegas, but I wouldn't want to spend a lot of time there.

It’s still an okay place to stay. The location was good, it’s near to a lot of the Casinos you might want to visit, but it’s a lot cheaper than the fancy new casinos. The rooms were clean although they desperately need to be remodeled. The casino area was kinda of cramped and didn't look like it would be as enjoyable as say the floor in Harrah's next door, and we didn't eat there so I don't know about the quality of the food.

Price: It was a good deal we paid $308 for our 2 night stay, and while this is not as good price as the dodgy places off the strip ($89 a night) it was a far cry from the $300-$500 a night that other places were charging like the Aladdin, Venetian, or Mandalay Bay.

Location: It was great. You could easily walk to many of the other popular casinos, like the Venetian, Caesar’s Palace, Harrah’s, or Treasure Island. Other Casinos like the Aladdin, while a walkable distance away, could be gotten to easily via a $10 cab ride as well. Location wise this is a great place to stay on the strip.

Room Details: Our room had a tropical theme (I was sorta hoping for more of an oriental feel to the room since it was the Imperial Palace) The bedspread, curtains and border around the room was orange base featuring Bird of Paradise flowers, the carpet and wall paper was done in pastel pink, and blue (kind of clashed with the tropical curtain and bedspread) it had two pictures in pastel of tropical birds. The room appeared clean, although it needed to be remodeled. The carpet has various greasy type stains throughout, the wallpaper was coming loose in lots of places, and the sink needed to be refinished. The TV was the oldest TV I had seen in a hotel/motel in my life and it didn't even have a remote! Which was a first for a hotel/motel for me. The furniture was cleaned but looked worn--it was white wicker and the paint had been scuffed off in many places, and there was a hole in one of the chairs cushions. It had three lamps, which gave adequate light. The bathroom was cleaned and tiled. The water pressure was good and the showerhead was high enough that I didn't have to duck in the shower (which is a plus). It came with a hair dryer, which worked well and an iron, which I didn't use. The AC unit worked very well in our room. We could keep it cool without having to turn the unit off and on.

Other Information: The elevators were a bit slow and placed in inconvenient places. We spent a lot of time waiting for the elevator or walking from an elevator that wasn't close to our room. The hotel is laid out funny, so that it is a bit hard to navigate and not all elevators went to the rooms. The casino itself seemed overly noisy and a bit cramped. It didn't appear that it would be a pleasant place to gamble. I preferred the layout of the Harrah's Casino instead. I also thought that check at 11 was a bit early--I prefer to at least have until noon especially in place like Vegas.

Overall this is a clean, inexpensive hotel with a great location. But it is not as nice as the newer expensive hotels. So if you are looking for a high-class stay--this ain't it. But if you are looking for a clean place to crash during your partying in Vegas, it will suit your needs just fine.
