You get what you pay for

Pros:Reasonable price to stay, close to the major strip casinos
Cons:Limited animeties and boring shows

On my second trip to Vegas (the first time with my husband) we decided to stay at the Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino. It wasn't our first choice of hotels but the location was great and the prices were very reasonable so we booked a 4 night stay (59.95 a night).

When we first arrived we were promptly checked in and given some direction to our room (second elevator on the left, 18th floor, room 18454) when we got to the second floor we started following the room signs towards our room but the elevator took us to the Northwest side of the hotel and our room was on the Southeast, needless to say we had quite a long walk with our luggage to the room. On a good note there was a second set of elevators 6 rooms down from ours that we took from that day on.

The room was clean and tidy, amenities were basic (soap, shampoo, lotion), the towels were limited (3 large, 2 medium, 4 small)and they had a strange smell to them (like they were burnt in the dryer), we had about 12 TV channels. 1 was strictly infomation about the hotel, another strictly for learning how to gamble, 5 basic channels (ABC,CBS,NBC, etc.), 5 cable channels. The bed was firm and the 4 pillows were not very fluffy. The air conditioning in the room was loud. Each phone call was $.75 whether you connected or not, and long distance from the hotel to Michigan was $2.00 a minute (plus the $.75 for just using the phone).

We seen part of the stars impersonation show but walked out half way through it just wasn't very entertaining to us for $18.00 a ticket plus 2 small water down drinks. We skipped the Hawain Laua (Lou-ow) but we heard from other people in the hotel that it was a good show (I had already been to one a few years ago). We skipped our free tickets to the "World Famous" auto collection, we're really not into classic cars.

The food at the pizza restaurant was good and reasonably priced. I don't like Asian food so we didn't go to any of the oriental restaurants. When we tried to go to some of the other restaurantes in the hotel they all closed at 10 pm so we never got a chance.

I never tried the fitness center so I can't comment on that. The pool was small and the patio area around the pool was crowded with people. When I went to get a beach towel they had ran out so I had to go back and swim in the pool till they had more available.

If you plan to take a taxi at the Imperial Palace you may not get one, very few taxi drivers park at the Imperial Palace. The Las Vegas trolley picks up at the Palace but it is in the back of the hotel not the front.

For a cheap stay on a tight budget I would recommend this hotel/casino, but if you have the extra money to go somewhere else I say do it.
