The Imperial Palace seemed not to be a high-class place even as I drove into the parking garage. The street into the garage was partially flooded and the garage was coming apart. Once we parked the car I noticed that there were hotel rooms directly facing the parking garage. Just feet from it - amazing! I certainly would not want to stay there; the rates had better be dirt cheap.
The parts of the casino we walked through did not help my impression any. It seemed run down, not a part of the "new" Las Vegas. Then we entered the Imperial Palace Car Museum. It was an amazing collection of cars, all sorts of cars. A very cool place, indeed. Not that the exhibit space was anything to write home about but the cars were one-of-a-kind.
Simply: skip the hotel and casino, see the cars. The cars are a gem on the Strip, the rest isn't.
