| celticjosh's Full Review: Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino |
For it's location, the Imperial Palace is a great deal! Located smack dab in the middle of the strip, you are just a short stroll from Caesar's Palace, the Bellagio, the Flamingo Hilton and many other Vegas landmarks. Following are some of the high and lowlights of the Imperial Palace.
1. Location. Did I mention that this place is in a great location? You don't like the sportsbook?, simply hop across the street to Caesar's (famous for theirs). Looking for a great buffet, go next door to the Barbary Coast and take their complimentary shuttle to the Orleans.
2. Price. For being right in the middle of it all, the IP has great room deals. Prices here rival downtown and even some places off of the Strip.
3. Gaming. Although the casino is small by Las Vegas standards, it does have a good variety of slots. This is also the place to go for those who are looking for low limit ($3) tables on the Strip.
4. Food. I've never eaten at the buffet, but the coffee shop does have a night owl steak and eggs deal that is hard to beat.
5. Rooms. Very small and spartan. I was actually disappointed in the rooms. I work for a Holiday Inn in San Diego, and when I go to Vegas I want something better than our hotel, not worse. This room provides a bed and towels and very little else. The bright side is, you will not be paying very much for the room and hopefully you will not be spending much time there either.
6. Service. I have never had a problem with the dealers or cocktail waitresses here, all very friendly. Excellent service at the tables. Two complaints: they serve most of their drinks, including beer, in small plastic cups and forget about trying to get a glass of orange juice or milk early in the morning. On my last trip I played the slots for 45 minutes in the morning before heading to the airport and I never even saw a cocktail waitress.
Overall, the Imperial Palace makes for a very good base of operations as you hit some of the bigger and fancier casinos next door.
