Pros:very convenient location; nice casino, nice rooms, and quality entertainment
Cons:kinda small and not as flashy as its competitors
Last year when I traveled to Las Vegas, I stayed at the Imperial Palace Hotel/Casino. The resort is located center strip, which makes it an ideal place to stay during your stay in Las Vegas.
Sandwiched between Harrah's and the Flamingo Hilton, the Imperial Palace doesn't take up a whole lot of room. The casino area is relatively small, as is the main lobby. Three large hotel towers form a square with the casino, which makes for easy access.
There are 2700 hotel rooms at the IP, once making it one of the largest in the world. However, other hotels began to be built and old ones built more rooms to compete. Due to the limited space, the IP hasn't jumped on the bandwagon to build more rooms yet. The rooms themselves are medium-sized with a touch of Oriental flavor. Overall, the room rates are fair, and you get a nice sized room for the price. However, the rates change from time to time depending on the time of year when you are there.
In general, the atmosphere around the casino is not claustrophobic. There is enough room to move around comfortably, and the casino itself is never really packed to the gills. There is a good variety of slot machines, video poker machines, and many table games offer a $3 minimum, which is a rare find on the strip--normally the minimum is at least $5, and sometimes that is hard to find.
There are ten restaurants in the IP, most of which include four cozy sitdowns, one fast food, and also a buffet, which was actually quite good and had a nice variety, enough to appeal to everyone.
The Imperial Palace is also home to the famous "Legends In Concert" show, where talented entertainers impersonate some of music's most legendary performers, including Elvis, Madonna, Prince, Neil Diamond, Elton John, the Blues Brothers, and many more. This is one of the best shows in Las Vegas, and every year that I have visited there, I have always seen this show, and it has yet to disappoint me.
The staff is courteous and cooperative. If there any questions or concerns, they are always available and willing to help. Compared to other hotels I have stayed at, the IP was among one of the best in customer service.
All-in-all, the Imperial Palace is nice place. It's convenient location allows for easy access to neighboring casinos. Though not as extravagant or spacious like some of its neighbors, the IP gives you enough bang for your buck to have a nice place to stay while in Las Vegas.
