I stayed at the lv hilton from 12/15--12/19/99, a very low season got a $29 a night rate over the internet for two nights and a $39 a night through the mail ( i played there briefly at the end of april earlier in the year.) because it was a slow season i asked and received an upgrade to a very small suite--so i could open the door and sit outside.
I played a lot of video poker, an 8/5 progressive jacks or better machine near the sports book area--a bit dark and depressing for my taste. lost a bunch of money, used a coupon to get double points for cash back (their slot card tracks how much you play as do all casino slot cards).
Played low stakes black jack with a bunch of fellow table tennis players--usually the pit boss would honor our request to lower the table limit to $5 a hand when i told him there were 4 or more of us. dealers in general very nice and helpful to novices.
The slot hosts go off duty at 2AM and dont go back on duty until 8am so that is the best time to get a preliminary bill and take it to the casino host who will check your slot and table play maybe take a little something off your bill. The breakfast buffet is ok, the corned beef hash is great. the dinner buffet i thought was substandard a bit like school food. benihana's was excellent but not cheap. the margarita grill was very good and a good value particularly with a coupon. When rates are good and no convention in the place, this is a nice place to stay. it is a bit far from the main strip that is the only real drawback. will be back there next december for the united states table tennis national championships
