The Vegas Hilton is a great place to visit and an even better place to stay if you need to be away from the strip madness. It is about two blocks from the strip, close to everything and is calmer and quieter than most of the glitzy places.
The bedrooms need to be refurbished. The room we stayed in had a mattress about four inches thick!! Not the most comfortable. However, it is clean and the facility is in a good location. This hotel also offers a convention facility. So, there are always things happening at the property.
The casino is large and it seems to have a fair amount of hits by the players. There are a diverse amount of machines and the tables get a fair amount of activity. Also, since this is a conference facility, there are lots of players who are apparent novices at gaming on the casino floor. If gaming is not your thing, be aware that you must walk through the casino to get to the conference center.
I enjoyed the restaurants there - there are Japanese, Italian and Mexican - all of which are good places to eat. Their coffee shop runs 7/24 and is a good place to hit for late night fare, especially if you have been playing in the casinos all night.
The shops are less than exciting, but the location works well. There are enough places to shop in Vegas, so less than exciting shops at the Hilton can easily be overlooked.
I find that there are also less kids at this hotel, since this is a conference facility. Unlike other gaming states, Nevada does not prohibit minors from entering casinos - so it is not unusual to see little people in casinos with parents late at night.
If you want to stay at a good place, great service, fast to get in and out of and have a good time in Vegas, the Hilton makes for a good stay without paying all outdoors to make it happen.
