The first time I went to Las Vegas on a business trip. I was not staying at the Luxor, but I fell in love with it and stayed there on my 2nd Vegas visit. This time, I was with friends, and all three of us will swear by it. The casino is big and not too crowded and "Ra" the AWESOME night club is phenomenal. It it all the way at the bottom of the strip, but it's at least it's at the airport end and near Mandalay Bay (another great hotel). The food in the hotel is great, the attractions are incredible and the guests are generally young and hip.
In terms of service, they are very hospitable. One morning at about 9am there was a loud banging noise that sounded as if it was coming from next door. Hung over and having gone to bed only hours earlier, this noise was completely unacceptable. We called the front desk, they offered to move our room away from the noise, and without any hassle, agreed to comp us the room for the night. i took my saved money right back to the tables!
The pool is OUTRAGEOUS. Five pools with the Egyptian theme of the hotel all around. Totem polls, Egyptian God statues, etc. Also, there is a great spa with all kinds of deals on facials, massages, hot oil treatments, steam baths, etc. Basically, pure luxury.
We had the most fun in our casino than any other hotels on the strip. For example, the Bellagio is breathtaking, but the crowd is stuffy. The luxor crowd is more youthful and fun. Everyone at the tables was friendly and cheering each other on-- the way gambling should be. And we won most of our money there-- it must have been the hotel!
The rates are comparable with the norm on the strip-- it really depends when you go. If there's a big convention at the hotel that , they will be high, and if nothin's going on, it will be dirt cheap (during the week only).
