The Luxor will blow you away just looking at it from the outside! Once you step inside, it's even more intense. I was more impressed with this casino for the architecture than about anything else, though it definately had it all. The fascinating egyptian theme just pervades everything and is very well done.
My memories of this trip are a bit blurry, it was the new year holiday a few years back, so needless to say, there's a great many things I don't remember. :)
I didn't stay at the hotel so I can't rate the amenities, but if the service I received everywhere else is indicative, I would speculate it's top class!
If you're a history buff like me, you'll love the egyptian museum with replica of King Tut's tomb. The Obelisk motion ride was very good, though not all that impressive the second time through (I'm a motion theatre and virtual reality junkie). They did have some outstanding virtual reality rides at the arcade. Those rated highly with me! The Imax movies were all very good also.
I didn't try the buffet, but I did eat at the upstairs cafe (the restaurant I wanted to eat at was full and I had no reservation). I was extremely impressed! For cafe food, it more closely resembled high end restaurant fare. The price was right also.
The casino itself is spectacular. The games are well laid out and it's easy to negotiate your way through, even on a crowded new year. I did find the slots very tight, but the whole city was tight that holiday.
From what little I remember of the Ra Nightclub, I had a blast. In fact I had so much fun there that it's the reason for the foggy memory. :)
I did love the shopping there, and returned home with several cool egyptian goodies for my collection, including a cartouche with my name in heiroglyphics and a papyrus scroll. The prices were fair too.
I seem to remember a boat ride? Or was it just the room spinning? Either way, I had a blast there and it's on my list for places to stay one of these visits.
