My husband and I stayed at the Mirage in May of 2003 for 4 nights. We booked our package through MLT Vacations (mltvacations.com) and got the entire package including air, flying out of Denver, Co for around $430 each.
We had walked through the Mirage before on our past stay in Vegas but have never stayed there.
Upon checking in the lines were long, but we didn't have to wait but 15 minutes to check in. We requested an earlier check-in since we arrived early in the morning. Their normal check in time was like 3:00 and they said the room should be ready by 1:00. The lady checking us in gave us our key and said that if we wanted to go up and drop our bags off in the room we could but it might not be cleaned yet. It was about 11:00 a.m. when she gave us our keys. We went to the room and it was already cleaned! So we were able to enjoy our room earlier than we expected!
The check in staff were friendly, inquiring where we were from and just great and really fast! They know how to do their jobs well.
The rest of the hotel was nice, they have the nice waterfall walkway area. It got very very busy over the weekend. Overall the hotel was clean and the grounds of the hotel were clean.
We went on the bus tour thing that takes you to the Hoover Dam. We were told through the tour company that we could book at the hotel. We thought this meant pay also, but this is not the case. I have a separate review on the tour and the company (Showcase) that does these tours and bus rides to the Hoover Dam, please see that review.
The swimming pool is the best feature of the hotel by far. There are lots of chairs, although finding a good spot can be tough unless you get out there first thing when the pool opens! They have a wonderful waterfall that flows into the pool and a couple of small slides which are fun.
The pool has a neat bar (expensive!). There are also several separate cabana areas that one can rent for a day which have water misters (nice!) in them.
Overall I had a great time at the Mirage. I found it within walking distance of several restaurants (Outback Steakhouse, Denny's) and smaller casinos w/restaurants of their own.
Overall, the Mirage was a great experience and I will return again.
