Pros:Friendly staff, excellent rooms, great crowd
Cons:Moderate restaurants
The Bottom Line: Great hotel. A bit expensive but worth every penny.
Recently turned 21, I went to a casino in Lake Tahoe and paid top dollars for my "premium" room but was extremely disappointed with what I saw. Therefore, although my friends had reserved the tower suite at the Mirage for my 21st birthday, I was a little skeptical of what the suite will be like. Fortunately, I didn't find out.
Lobby
Upon entering the lobby from the parking lot, I was very impressed with the ambiance of the hotel. It was very clean, smoke-free, and beautifully appointed. However, I was extremely tired from my drive. Because of the closure of the freeway due to flooding, I did not get to the hotel until 5pm. I was a bit worried because I wanted to get there early to choose my room. Surprisingly, there wasn't much of a line on a Wednesday afternoon in the middle of August. I chose to go to a girl who seemed to be nice to check in. She was very friendly to me, which I really needed it from my long drive. After telling her the reason for my delay, she upgraded me to the Penthouse Suite! (that tells you, you don't need to go to the hotel too early!)
Room/Suite
The penthouse was amazing. It was on the top floor of the hotel-30th. It was about the size of 3 regular rooms combined with floor to ceiling windows. The living room had an entire entertainment center with an additional stereo system. Radio, VCR, CD Player, and a big TV along with a fine leather sofa set were also in the living room. There were also a full bar with food stocked and a dining table. The suite was very classy and clean. There was also a love seat by the window in the bedroom so you could sit there and watch the strip! There was turn down service and they put beautiful flowers from Hawaii and chocolate on the bed! And yes, the suite had a really really amazing view of the strip. The suite was directly across from Caesars palace so I could see everything on the strip. The bath room had a whirlpool tub separated from a shower. There was also a closet, a dressing area and a separate bathroom. It was fantastic.
Pool
I didn't have a chance to visit the pool, but from what I could see in my suite, there were not many people at all! They even had a group of senior citizens learning how to swim in the pool, which was really cool (I saw all of this in my suite).
Restaurant
The only restaurant I went to at the Mirage was the buffet. The food was decent but not great. Lunch for one person was under $15. I had most of my other meals at Bellagio, and as expected, they were better than the Mirage.
Service
Every single employee I had encountered was extremely friendly and helpful
Crowd
Now, I think this is what made my entire trip more pleasant than anything. People who stayed at the Mirage and Bellagio were certainly more friendly and "classy." No one was rude. Everyone dressed very nicely and was there to have a good time. I went to the casinos at NYNY, Paris, and MGM Grand and left within an hour because people there were rude and trashy.
